Dental Crowns

Tooth damage and decay can cause painful side effects, and if not treated, will severely compromise your oral health. Dr. Yandresco Quintana can design and place a custom dental crown to protect your teeth and restore their appearance. Why should you undergo dental crown treatment at our New York, practice?

What Are Dental Crowns?

A crown is a tooth-shaped cap that is placed over a healthy tooth after the damaged portion has been removed. Crowns are often the final step in a root canal treatment. If you have lost teeth, we can also secure a crown to a dental implant to fill the gaps in your smile. We can craft your restoration from several different materials including porcelain, resin, and ceramic to best suit your budget and aesthetic goals.

Find Relief Soon

With a Temporary Crown

After breaking a tooth or dealing with painful decay, you may feel stuck in a nerve-wracking situation. Luckily, relief is on the way. Our dentist can place a temporary crown as you wait for your natural-looking permanent crown.

The Many Benefits of Dental Crowns

We provide metal-free crowns and work with the finest dental studios in the area. Using local labs gives us a greater degree of control over the final results. Additional benefits include

Restoring Function

An infected, damaged tooth makes simple daily tasks challenging at times. A crown can restore your dental function and allow you to both eat the foods you like and speak with clarity.

Improving Aesthetics

Oftentimes, decay or trauma will cause a tooth to have a dark, shadowy appearance, or develop visible cracks. Your crown caps the entire surface of the tooth, concealing aesthetic imperfections.

Relieving Symptoms

Infection can cause painful swelling, bleeding, and dental sensitivity. Dental crown treatment begins with addressing the source of your symptoms by sterilizing and cleaning out decay.

Providing Protection

A crown not only improves the appearance of your teeth but also provides additional support for a weakened tooth structure. A crown will protect from further wear and damage preventing the need for extraction.

Replacing Missing Teeth

An implant-supported crown can replace a missing tooth, or several missing teeth with a durable, natural-looking prosthetic. Meanwhile, the dental implants act as a replacement for your tooth roots, preventing bone recession.

Dental Crown Placement

Means an End to Your Stress

If you’ve been living with a broken or decayed tooth, you’ve already dealt with the most stressful part. Now, you can move on to the solution: beautiful, lifelike porcelain crowns. Our New York, dentist can place them in as little as two weeks, transforming your smile completely.

Why Patients Trust Us

Innovative Dental Technology

Provides Superior Treatment

Our innovative Cadent iTero™ scanner takes digital impressions of your teeth to create ultra-precise custom crowns. The scanner has done away with outdated messy putty impressions, improving the comfort of treatment, and the quality of the final results. Dr. Yandresco Quintana was the first cosmetic dentist in the world to use this technology, which is now utilized by dental practices worldwide for its convenience and accuracy.

Cadent iTero Scanner

The technology works by capturing a detailed 3-D model of your teeth and gums within seconds. These digital images are displayed on a chair-side monitor allowing us to show you a simulation of what the crown will look like after treatment. iTero is just another example of how Quintana Smiles stays at the forefront of medical innovation and modern dentistry.

What Should I Expect During Treatment?

The Dental Crown Procedure

The treatment for a traditional dental crown spans roughly two weeks at our New York, practice. Take a closer look at the procedure timeline.

"We can craft your restoration from several different materials including porcelain, resin, and ceramic."

Consultation

The dentist will perform an oral exam to determine whether you need a dental crown. We will discuss treatment options and the different restorative materials you may choose from.

Implant Placement

This step only applies to patients receiving an implant-supported crown. Dr. Yandresco Quintana can coordinate your implant placement with a trusted oral surgeon. Then, when the area has healed, he can help with the next steps of your dental treatment.

Tooth Preparation

The dentist will then prepare your affected tooth with a root canal or other preparatory procedure to disinfect the area and remove the decayed inner pulp. We will shave off a thin layer of surface enamel to make room for the crown.

Impressions

Our high-tech digital imaging system takes a virtual scan of your mouth so the dentist can design your custom restoration. We send the design off to our trusted dental lab where experienced technicians craft the restoration from porcelain or other restorative material.

Temporary Crown

The dentist will place a temporary crown on the tooth for protection while your custom crown is being made. The temporary crown is not as durable as its permanent counterpart, so avoid hard sticky foods and excess and pressure in the meantime.

Finishing Touches

Once we receive the permanent crown, you will return to the dentist's office for placement. After making any necessary adjustments to the fit and positioning, the dentist bonds the restoration to the surface of your tooth, and treatment is complete.

“Best dentist hands down. I travel from out east to use Dr. Yandresco Quintana. I use to have a huge fear of the dentist now I look forward to my visits. I highly recommend him. His staff is just as pleasant.”

What will my finished crown look like?

Porcelain Crowns Are Virtually Indistinguishable

From Natural Teeth

We craft our dental crowns from the highest quality restorative materials. Porcelain, a favorite among patients and dentists alike, provides the most life-like aesthetics mimicking the qualities of natural teeth. We match the shade of porcelain to your natural tooth enamel for seamless end results.

Many patients opt for a whitening procedure prior to dental crown treatment to update their entire smile to a consistent bright shade of white.

Is Cost Keeping You

From Visiting Us?

Many dental patients put off treatment because they’re worried about cost. We offer free initial consultations so you’ve got nothing to lose as you explore experiencing a healthier, more beautiful smile. Our friendly team can also file paperwork with your dental insurance to make the process easier.

Why Patients Trust Us

How Long

Do Crowns Usually Last?

Most crowns have a lifespan of about seven to ten years. This can be extended though with good dental hygiene and proper care. That dedicated care can also prevent decay or an infection in the root canal of a tooth, so you shouldn’t require further treatment other than replacing your crown due to wear and tear.

Maintaining Your Dental Crown

Most crowns have a lifespan of about seven to ten years. This can be extended though with good dental hygiene and proper care. Maintenance is relatively simple and intuitive. We recommend that our patients follow a few simple tips:

Avoid Unnecessary Pressure

It is important to avoid extremely hard or chewy foods that might dislodge your crack the restoration. Refrain from grinding your teeth or opening packages with your mouth, since a dental crown can wear down just like natural tooth enamel.

Practice Good Oral Hygiene

Brush your teeth twice daily and floss regularly, especially around your crown treated tooth. Rather than pulling the floss up and down, the floss should be pulled front to back to prevent dislodging the crown.

Attend Regular Check-Ups

Visit our New York, practice bi-annually for deep cleaning and check-up. The dentist will be able to check the status of your crown and make sure your natural tooth is still properly protected and healthy.
